Barbados’ film industry has developed steadily over the years, with a number of film production studios on the island and those providing television and advertising production services.

The jurisdiction’s scenic location is a huge draw for filmmakers. Several local and international films have been produced in Barbados including the 1957 movie
Island in the Sun. Barbados was the location of choice in the 1990s, for episodes of soap opera The Bold and

the Beautiful, as well as the more recent and popular international television series Outer Banks.

Local productions include movies such as Hit for Six, Hush 1, 2 & 3, Chrissy, Pay Day, Into the Darkness and Camouflage, which gained international appeal, premiering in the UK in early 2024. Popular television series and comedy, Keeping up with the Joneses, was also filmed in Barbados.
