Days ahead of her highly anticipated Super Bowl Halftime performance, National Hero the Right Excellent Robyn Rihanna Fenty has released a new trailer for the event, which pays homage to her hometown.
Produced by local production company Parachute Film Studios, the video was officially released online by streaming music service Apple Music this afternoon, and is chock full of familiar aspects of Barbadian life.
The scenes include local primary school children on a minibus, adults slamming dominoes, and kite flying, all in the Rihanna Drive area, all set against a soundtrack of her hit song with Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘Run This Town’.
The minute and 27 second long clip ends with the quote: “My whole life was shaped on this very road. I was just a little island girl flying kites in the cemetery…but I had big dreams”.
Rihanna will hit the stage on Sunday, February 12 for a 13 minute long performance.
Local organisations, such as the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. and the National Sports Council will be hosting Super Bowl watch parties so Barbadians can come out and witness the historic performance for themselves.
