The Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office has taken the next step toward becoming Business Barbados.

As of February 01, CAIPO will be absorbed within the new entity Business Barbados, which will take responsibility for the corporate registry and expand its services to Barbadian and international businesses.

This is not a name change – it is a major step that redefines how business is done on the island. It is about ushering in a new era in business facilitation in Barbados and responding definitively to the calls of Barbadians for concrete steps to deliver on the ease of doing business.

Clients will continue to access services at Baobab Towers, Warrens, but over the coming months, they will experience upgraded facilities, enhanced digital solutions, and an elevated level of support that reflects the organisation’s commitment to progress. As Business Barbados works to enhance customers’ experience, the team asks for your understanding and cooperation as the organisation evolves to serve you better.

“We are not just adapting to change; we are driving it, “ said Minister of Energy and Business Development, Senator Lisa Cummins.

“As a Government we have heard Barbadian businesses and the global business community speaking about the challenges in doing business. We have heard and are answering with a completely reconstructed approach that is customer-focused. While the heavy lifting to create the new entity has taken us the past year, we will be focusing in the coming weeks, on the immediate things that are bugbears to the business community and how we can start to look with fresh eyes on things we consider easy to resolve. I have also asked the new Board and the team, to focus on building an entire ecosystem for doing business. Government, through CAIPO for example, is one node in that ecosystem, but as a matter of priority, I have identified the need for us to work with other government agencies as well as the private sector so that all transactions become far easier to access and complete.”

She added that Business Barbados is committed to getting the basics right, trailblazing new opportunities, forging dynamic connections, and revolutionising the support offered to businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors.

This year, Business Barbados will unveil a suite of new services designed to expand its capabilities and position Barbados as a premier global business hub.
