Barbados has received positive news relative to the jurisdiction’s global business sector and Barbadians, generally.
Effective August 5, Barbados will officially be removed from the European Union’s (EU’s) money laundering list of High-Risk Third Countries.
This news follows the jurisdiction’s previous removal from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force early in 2024, as well as being automatically removed from the United Kingdom’s list of High-Risk Third Countries.
Attorney General Dale Marshall welcomed the news, noting that “EU financial institutions no longer need to conduct enhanced due diligence on parties and transactions from Barbados.”
As a result, he added that Barbados could “now enjoy some stability and predictability in our commercial activity with businesses and individuals with the EU member states…”
Attorney General Marshall also confirmed that the delegated legislation was published on July 16, 2025, in the EU’s Official Journal.
