The month of December continued to be an exciting time for Invest Barbados, the investment promotion agency of the government of Barbados.

The Corporation recently hosted its annual staff Christmas function, bringing the team together to enjoy the day’s festivities in celebration of another successful year, which was made possible through teamwork, collaboration and a shared purpose.

Food, fun and fellowship were the order of the day for staff and Board members, creating a festive atmosphere for the holiday season. The camaraderie was evident as colleagues mingled and participated in a variety of activities, enjoyed lively music and a delectable spread of Christmas cuisine. The event also featured staff awards and an array of exciting prizes, which added to the merriment of the occasion.

During the event, Chairman of the Board Dr. Jeremy Nurse delivered brief remarks, expressing gratitude to the staff of Invest Barbados for their dedication and hard work during the year, while indicating his expectations for greater success for the new year ahead.

“As we approach the end of our five-year plan, we will be looking to develop and implement a new strategy with ambitious yet achievable objectives for the upcoming year. I am enthusiastic and optimistic about the opportunities and milestones that we will be setting going forward, and with our hardworking team, we will reach new heights and continue to make a positive impact.”

Dr. Nurse also noted that staff would continue to play a major role in shaping the Corporation’s strategy, since they were the ones executing the critical day-to-day organisational tasks. “Our efforts, together with those of our key stakeholders aim to deliver on a more welcoming and globally competitive business environment.”

Among the highlights of the staff function was the presentation of the 15-year Length of Service Award to Senior Business Development Officer Neil Weekes, Investment & Marketing Division, while this year’s Team Award went to the Finance Division.  The Team Award acknowledges the division’s resourcefulness and consistent willingness to assist others, adherence to organisational values, strong leadership, good organisation, administration and teamwork and its significant contribution to the overall impact and success of the Corporation.

Earlier in December, Invest Barbados hosted the inaugural Cocktails and Conversation networking event, which brought together key stakeholders in the global business sector from across the public and private sectors including government agencies, the legal, insurance, accounting, banking and other sectors. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for business professionals to network, reflect on the performance of the global business sector and discuss the progress made during 2024.

At the event, CEO Kaye Greenidge reiterated, “Invest Barbados will continue to work purposefully with our stakeholders and partners to seek and secure sustainable investments that will redound to the further advancement of the global business sector and the Barbados economy.”
