The University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus’ Business Development Office and the Shridath Ramphal Centre in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), will be hosting a workshop entitled, “Innovation, Intellectual Property Asset Management and Successful Technology Licensing: Generating Wealth for Caribbean Businesses through Science, Technology and Innovation.” The workshop will be held from November 16 – 20, 2009 in the Conference Room, 2nd Floor, CARICOM Research Building at the Cave Hill Campus.

The training course will introduce and develop the issue of intellectual property as a tool for generating wealth for Caribbean businesses through the promotion of innovation and successful technology transfer. Examples and case studies from the energy, biotechnology, and agro�]processing sectors of the Caribbean region will be used to provide hands on training to participants.

Featured presenters will include Mrs. Olga Spasic, Senior Program Officer, Innovation and Technology Transfer Section, WIPO; Mr. Ulf Peterson, Director, Centre for Intellectual Property Studies, Chalmers University, Goteborg, Sweden; and Mr. David Deperthes,President & CEO of Med Discovery SA, Geneva. They will be supported by an outstanding team of local and regional facilitators.

The interactive sessions will include a series of presentations, case studies, and roundtable discussions on Days 1-3 and a licensing negotiation simulation on Days 4-5.

There is a registration fee of BDS $300.00.
