Los Angeles – Barbadian musician, Miles Robertson backed two-time Grammy award winning British star, Adele on the keyboards, when she made her debut at the sold-out Hollywood Bowl. Adele shared the stage with the dynamic Chaka Khan, on Sunday, June 28.
The young singer, best known for her hit single, Chasing Pavements was one of 33 stars, in a line-up that includes Faith Hill, the Roots, Grace Jones and veteran opera singer/conductor, Plácido Domingo. The entertainers are scheduled to perform during the 14 week summer season, which runs from June to September.
Robertson, who is a producer, engineer, drummer, violinist and musical director, has been performing with Adele since September 2008. He has appeared on popular TV shows such as Saturday Night Live, the View, Dancing With The Stars, as well as at the Grammy Awards with Sugarland.
Robertson is a third generation musician, following in the footsteps of his maternal grandparents, James and Dorothy Odessa Millington; his late mother, Janice Anita Millington and his father, Raf Robertson.
He was taught to play the violin and classical piano at age four by his mother herself a noted Caribbean musician, and a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music, United Kingdom.
Robertson, a former student of The Lodge School earned the highest overall mark in the Caribbean Examinations Council Music Examination at age 16 in 1999. At age six, he made history as the youngest person to compete in the Junior Calypso Monarch competition, and placed third, under the stage name, “The Mighty Puma”.
He is a graduate of the Barbados Community College, having pursued an Associate Degree in Music from 2000 to 2002.
His breakthrough to the international music stage came in 2005 when he toured as a backing musician for Atlantic Record’s soca artiste Rupee. Rupee, who is also Barbadian, is known for his hits Tempted To Touch, and After the Sunset – sound track for a Brett Rotner film.
