Invest Barbados, one of the Global Business Week (GBW) 2020 diamond sponsors and the economic development agency of the Government of Barbados, participated in the GBW launch hosted by BIBA, the Association for Global Business, recently.

In delivering Sponsor’s Remarks, Ms. Sandra Payne, Director of Research and Development, indicated that Invest Barbados is “pleased to continue to provide unwavering support and tangible leadership to this Week of Activities, which brings into focus the important contribution that global businesses make to our economic and social landscape. We continue to value our partnership with the BIBA and other stakeholders.

It is because of these valued partnerships and shared vision of a vibrant business sector, that Invest Barbados is once again pleased to be a Diamond Sponsor.” She said that Invest Barbados had taken the opportunity to restrategise and reprioritise while remaining focused on significantly contributing to transformative change; positioning the Barbados Business Brand as well as, the country’s welcoming investment climate.”

Minister of International Business, Hon. Ronald Toppin, who delivered the featured address, explained that the ability to make adaptation and evolution successful was “to execute… carry out, accomplish and perform. This sector must carry out, must continue to accomplish and must increase in performance.” Giving an example he added, “Despite our changes in the corporate tax rate and downward convergence, our corporation tax intake during this time has not only increased but served to buttress and bolster our economy at this time. We have performed and plan to continue performing.”

The week of activities, though scaled down this year given the current environment, will include a presentation to the St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church Care Ministry, a discussion on Voice of Barbados’ Down to Brass Tacks on 92.9 FM, a virtual public discussion forum, the flagship event – Global Business Conference and the BIBA Charity Virtual 5K event.
