The Central Bank of Barbados’ IBFS Newsletter, for the second quarter of 2014, is now available. The quarterly electronic publication, which is released exclusively on the Central Bank’s website, www.centralbank.org.bb focuses on the Barbados International Business and Financial Services sector.
This edition features information on the upcoming conference, “IFCs in a Borderless Digital Economy”. The conference is scheduled for September 11, 2014 at the Hilton Barbados in Bridgetown. Consultant to the Government of Barbados, the Honourable Dr. Don Oliver also shares his views on why such a conference as this is timely and significant.
Of note, is an article which highlights a recent study conducted by Dr. Walid Hejazi, Associate Professor of International Business at the Rotman School of Management. The study reveals that there is “strong evidence showing that when Canadian companies use Barbados as a conduit into the global economy, these companies are more competitive and earn higher profits internationally.”
