The December 2014 edition of the IBFS Newsletter is now available. Published by the Central Bank of Barbados, this quarter’s issue features several articles which focus on the Barbados-Canada relationship from varying angles.
Alison Manzer, Partner in the Financial Services Group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, tells us how Barbados is keeping Canada in the picture, while Legal Counsel of the Central Bank of Barbados, Sadie Dixon, reports on the recent talks between the Canada-CARICOM Friendship Group and a delegation from the Central Bank.
Also featured in this edition is an article written by Sir Trevor Carmichael, Q.C., titled: “Enjoying a 50th Anniversary: The Barbados IBC”. Here, Sir Trevor speaks to the fact that the Barbados IBC Act, established in 1965, has reached its golden anniversary.
Consultant to the Government of Barbados, Hon. Dr. Don Oliver, Q.C., also reports on the outcomes of the IFCs Conference, which was hosted in Bridgetown by Invest Barbados, in collaboration with the Central Bank, in September 2014.
