Barbados will be participating in the MIDEM 2011 showcase, making this its third year of doing so. MIDEM, one of the largest global music industry events, is set to begin on January 22, 2011 in Cannes, France. MIDEM brings together leading executives, decision makers and influencers, making it the place to do business for music.
The Barbados delegation, which will be based at Booth 14.15, draws from a range of musical genres and styles, bringing a varied yet distinctly Barbadian flair to MIDEM 2011. Representation of some of Barbados’ top talent will be had through the attendance of singer/songwriter Indra Rudder, artiste managers Teneille Doyle of Made in March SRL, Sonia Mullins of Sonic Entertainment, Duane Skerritt of Kolaiah Recording Studios and music producers Derek Wilkie of CRS Music & Media and Harold Britton of the Silvertones Barbados.
The delegation will be led by Invest Barbados’ Manager of the Indigenous Services Exports Division, Ms. Sophia Lewis. Senior Business Development Officer, Mr. Modou Diagne will also accompany the delegation attending this dynamic music forum.
In commenting about the event, Ms. Lewis noted that “This will be our third year attending the show and we fully intend to capitalise on the relationships we have worked hard to develop over the past two years. We intend to build on the successes of the previous Barbados delegation members, and use these achievements to further expose our musical talent to key players within a serious business forum, who have come to see Barbados as a viable source for top entertainers”.
