About Today, Barbados is making a quantum leap in its delivery of service excellence through the provision of high-quality business and service solutions, as well as in crafting and diffusing a genuine culture of innovation at the national level. Barbados is ready to "engage the world", both in attracting new investments into the island , in helping local and foreign investments to flourish, in expanding the number of job opportunities available to Barbadians, and in exporting Barbadian products and services to the world. The Barbados Government has created Invest Barbados (IB) to assist the country to become even more responsive in a competitive international environment. IB is now responsible for attracting, winning and sustaining international investment for Barbados; unleashing the export potential of the indigenous services sector; and helping to develop and manage the Barbados Brand. As economic globisation creates real threats and opportunities for small-island states, IB's mandate is revolutionary. Based on Barbados' Natinoal Strategic Plan 2005-2025, it visualises "a fully developed society that is prosperous, socially just and globally competitive". Among other considerations, such a vision incorporates the notions of competitiveness, and of balanced, sustainable, equitable growth.
